Hey team, Wow…it’s February already!
I bet those shiny New Year’s resolutions from January are gathering dust right now. The gym bag’s still in the cupboard, that checklist on the fridge is looking very empty of ticks, and life’s back to the usual grind.
Sound familiar? We all know that success doesn’t just land in your lap like a lucky lotto ticket. It’s super rare for anyone to smash it and become successful without being dead-set deliberate. We’re talking real hard work, mapping out the steps, and smashing deliberate practice every single day.
Think of it like chasing that black belt. You don’t rock up to the dojang, mess around with random moves, and suddenly tie that black fabric around your waist.
Successful martial art students don’t wing it, and it is why we have a very detailed Choi Kwang Do curriculum, a path of belt ranks plotted out, and it’s why we zero in on the vital few actions that actually move the needle, and train them consistently, even when it gets tough.
Without that plan of progressing through the coloured belts, nailing the basics at each level, grabbing feedback from your instructors, drilling the moves in the drills, then you’re just busy. You are busy training bits and pieces, not mastering the core stuff, and worst of all, not feeling like you’re not actually getting anywhere.
That’s the trap so many people fall into when they chase improvement and progress in other areas of their lives.
But here’s the good news: it’s not too late to flip the script for 2026. The New Year hype has faded for sure, but that’s when the real winners dig in. I want to share three simple steps to get you deliberate, focused, and charging towards real results in whatever you choose. No fluff, just actionable stuff you can start today.
Step 1: Map Your Path (Get Crystal Clear on Your Big Win)
Grab a pen and paper right now….seriously, pause reading and do it. What does success look like for you by end of 2026? Not vague dreams like “get fit” or “be better.” Be specific: “Earn my blue belt and run 5km without stopping” or “Nail that work promo by leading two projects.” Break it into a bunch of milestones that you can action one after the other, just like we do with belt levels. White to yellow, yellow to gold ….. list your steps. What’s the first one you tackle this month, what will you do in March, then in April? Block them into your calendar. Without a plan then you’re just hoping for a miracle. With a map, you’re moving. How good will it feel to look back in December and see you’ve ticked off real progress?
Step 2: Nail the 3 top “Must-Do’s” for each Milestone (Focus on What Really Matters)
Here’s where most people stuff up, they scatter their energy on everything, achieving nothing. Pick your top three must-do actions that drive each of your monthly milestones. For a martial arts example, maybe you want that blue belt… then those must-do actions could be “drill my side kicks 10 mins daily,” “attend three classes a week,” and “review feedback from my instructor every session.” Block time for these three must-do’s in your diary. Treat them like non-negotiable appointments. When tough days hit or distractions creep in (and they will), ask: “Does this move me towards my monthly milestone?” If not, skip it. Laser focus turns average effort into black-belt results.
Step 3: Deliberate Practice Every Day (Commit, Even When It’s Hard)
This is the daily grind that you got to do…. the daily deliberate practice that separates the talkers from the achievers.
Don’t just go through the motions. Drill with purpose. Record your progress, get feedback, tweak and repeat. Miss a day? Get back on it tomorrow with no beating yourself up. Track it simple: a tick on the fridge calendar for each day you hit your “Must-do’s”. In a month, those ticks build momentum. Six months in, you’re transformed. Consistency beats intensity every time.
Team, let’s treat February like your life’s big red reset button. The New Year party’s over, but your 2026 success story? Well that’s just starting. Pick one step today: map, focus, or practice, and most importantly, commit.
You’ve got this! Now go make it happen!

Many bullied kids suffer bullying in silence.
They make one common mistake: not recording or reporting anything.
Some kids may feel that it is a sign of weakness if they ask for help.
The best thing you can do is to let your child know that they are not alone if they are bullied.
Also let them know that asking for help can be very difficult, but the bravest person is not the one who suffers in silence. It is the person who speaks up and asks for help.
When your child asks for help, collect evidence. When bullying is recorded, something can be done about it by the authorities.
The following should be recorded as soon as possible after every incident:

Hey Parents,
Picture this: little Timmy steps onto the mat as a new student, eyes wide, ready to learn and grow. But a few months in, progress stalls, he’s grow disheartened, and wants to try soccer instead. Sound familiar? I’ve seen it too often at our dojang—talented kids plateauing and opting out because their foundations are shaky.
Why? It’s not a lack of talent. It’s the 4 C’s: Commitment → Consistency → Competency → Confidence. Parents, this is how you ensure your child’s martial art journey is one of value that will help them to grow into confident, resilient kids. Let’s break it down…..
C1: COMMITMENT – The Spark That Starts It All
It begins with you deciding: “We’re all in for this.” Not dabbling to see how it goes for 6 months, but committing to and owning the path to black belt. I see parents who treat classes like optional Netflix picks and thinking “…once a week is ok… if we’re not busy.” Their kid shows up sporadically, misses basics, has to be retaught moves, gets frustrated. Bang… there’s another dropout! Let’s flip it: Commit publicly. Tell your child, “We’re doing this together for a long time and there are going to be times that you feel like quitting, but you’ll get through it and be so glad you did, and I will be so proud of you for doing so!” That decision fuels everything.
C2: CONSISTENCY – The Daily Grind That Builds Heroes
Commitment without consistency? Another dead end! Busy parents tell me, “I’m frazzled, work’s crazy, I don’t have the energy to drive my child the next suburb over to attend class!” One missed week turns into a habit. Kid arrives rusty, peers zoom ahead in rank and skills, self-doubt creeps in, disappointment sets in. Result? Quitting. But consistent families? They prioritize 2-3 classes weekly, plus 10-min home drills. Suddenly, stances sharpen, kicks snap. Parents, you are the role models….you’re modeling: “Life’s busy, but we show up.” That’s a golden life lesson right there for our little ones!
C3: COMPETENCY – Skills Stack, Magic Happens
Consistency breeds competency. That kid coming to two classes per week, plus some? They master their kicks and punches, patterns and combos flow, gradings are aced. I’ve watched “once-a-week Timmy” lag while “consistent Sarah” upgrades in ranks almost too fast to believe. Competency isn’t magic,it’s reps. Parents, cheer your kids on… look for the gold in what they are achieving and let them know that you are proud of them: “Look how strong that punch is!” “Wow, I can see how fast your evasion is becoming!” Help them to train at home: Hold a target for them like pads or pillows, time their drills, do exercise challenges with them. Your involvement turns good into great.
C4: CONFIDENCE – The Ultimate Win
Competency ignites confidence. Sarah now interacts boldly with her training partners, some of whom are larger than her, smiles hugely at belt exams when accepting her new belt, helps junior students in their drills and invites friends to watch her in class. Timmy? He hangs back, unsure, secretly wishing that the instructor doesn’t pick him. Parents who commit and stay consistent create confident kids who are resilient, focused, leaders. You’re the role model to your kids: Show commitment in your life (gym, goals, diet) and they will mirror it. As for the frazzled or disengaged parent’s behaviour ? Their kids learn to make excuses. When you prioritize, they learn power.
Parents, you’re my secret weapon when it comes to learning martial arts. Ditch “once a week” or “too busy” and replace it with “commit fully” and “model consistency”. I will share this one secret with you….our dropouts are mostly due to inconsistency habits. Our stars? Families who are all-in.

Thank you so much for your review!
Simple, spicy, and full of bold Italian flavour, this classic Roman pasta dish is a weeknight winner!
When you have a clear destination in mind, each step you take becomes more purposeful and directed.
In martial arts, this quote by Earl Nightingale reminds us that having defined goals whether it’s earning your next belt, improving a technique, or developing inner discipline gives structure to your training and motivation to keep going.
As a lifestyle, martial arts is not just about attending classes; it’s about consistently aligning your daily actions with your long-term vision.
Whether you’re aiming for personal growth, physical health, or mental resilience, knowing where you want to go turns every punch, kick, and moment of effort into a meaningful step forward.
